I accidentally defaulted to referring to "Her Majesty's comptroller" in debate this morning. It still feels unnatural that we now have a King.

So, what is takeaway from the States meeting today? Despite being told how urgently we needed to raise revenues in the lead up to and during the tax debate, that’s all gone by the wayside. It’s now cuts cuts cuts because GST wasn’t supported. This is playground politics.
Do visit the Victor Hugo exhibition at the @ArtforGuernsey gallery in the Old Quarter. Congratulations to David Ummels and grateful for 650k of sponsor investment!
This vote demonstrates how extraordinary this Assembly is (compared to its recent predecessors): even on a vote for 5th member of a Committee, the States is divided; but guess that's what happens when P&R President judges appropriate leadership to challenge Committee's own choice twitter.com/BailiwickGsy/s…

I will be taking this up with my Planning colleagues.Contested election for the E&I seat vacated by Deputy Haskins.
Two candidates for one seat, Dep Mathews & Le Tissier line upDisappointed P&R in question time did not give unequivocal confirmation that IF the Illegal Migration Bill is enacted with sections that have direct effect in Guernsey then s72A of Reform Law is engaged and Assembly approval WILL be needed. It’s not a hard or trick question.

Deputy Ferbrache said in his statement that for the remainder of this political term we should only commit to projects we can see through to completion. One would hope that would always be the case.
Deputy Ferbrache's three Rs, following the tax debate, are Reduce, Rephase, Rationalise, he informed the Assembly in his P&R update this morning.
In answer to my question, Deputy Ferbrache says a policy letter will be brought to the States in the next few months around the idea of a public/private sector task force exploring a radical approach to housing - potentially identifying land, building higher and providing finance

I don't want to borrow any money but I just checked my credit score with Experian out of interest. [resisted it for decades] It was 999 out of 999. Does that mean I should take out the next bond rather than the States after their downgrades from S&P?

I have a deep philosophical question. What happens to all the small eggs? In the shop I can buy medium, large, or very large. By definition "medium" must be about average so there must be about as many small & very small as there are large & very large. So what happens to them?

Thank you to Aurigny for pulling out all the stops to ensure the Muratti semi could take place on Alderney today with a direct Dornier trip between Jersey and Alderney.
Aurigny really have helped save the day. Many thanks all involved. @AlderneyFC ⬇️These ‘situations’ appear to be arising with increasing regularity; the real challenge is to turn this into an opportunity to ensure it does not happen again - having to respond (albeit, rightly, without panicking) case-by-case is unsatisfactory. twitter.com/letocq/status/…
@73Gsy @mikereadgsy That is correct. But there’s no need to panic about it, we have argued our constitutional rights time & time again behind the scenes to avoid such situations which usually arise unintentionally & pass without consequence.
This is, as the article suggests, as I would expect. twitter.com/letocq/status/…
@73Gsy @mikereadgsy No it should not automatically apply. Our Assembly decides what laws are appropriate or not. It would only be if we request it (or parts of it) to be extended. That is what we are liaising over - the mechanism to ensure this remains the constitutional position.
Gov.gg down again. Not good.

This is totally untrue. People who identify as trans can compete against members of their own sex, just like everyone else. Sport is rightly segregated by sex, not by gender identity. twitter.com/stonewalluk/st…
We stand with trans people who now have the door closed on their chance to compete in athletic sports at an international level.
